YouTube is late to the #hashtag party but it will be a game changer for the second most popular search engine. The team and I will be adding hashtags to the videos on the channel as part of our social media marketing strategy. Other changes this week we’re looking to implement are on Instagram, Facebook and LinkedIn.

YouTube announces #hashtags

  • Engadget has announced, YouTube is making it easier for consumers to find other channels and content by allowing uploaders to add hashtags to both their descriptions and video titles
  • If you click on a hashtag, it will take you to a page that has other videos that are tagged with the same thing
  • YouTube #hashtags are currently only available to Android users and on the web

  • Instagram is implementing new ways to encourage real-time connections between users
  • Instagram announced, ‘when your friends are active on Instagram, you’ll see a green dot next to their profile picture in various spaces within the app’

Facebook announces new creative tools in the ads manager app

  • Facebook announced, new creative tools in Ads Manager which allow you to create and edit ad images directly from the app. Saving time and effort while you’re on the go
  • The new tools include:

    • Customisable Ad Templates
    • Shapes, Stickers & Logos
    • Color Filters

  • LinkedIn has announced a range of new enhancements to its messaging options
  • You can now, tap an arrow to stretch your compose box so you can write longer messages
  • Share attachments on the go
  • Share emojis from your desktop
  • Start/manage group messages
  • @mentions tagging other people in your messages
  • Copy and paste images into your message
