Instagram Stories rolls out new Create mode and Templates

  • Instagram is updating its camera and Stories features later this week, and will be introducing new Create mode, Templates, and Group Stories.
  • The Create mode allows users to type, post GIF’s, countdowns, polls and more, on a plain background.
  • A new Templates feature also provides users with layouts to draw and type over, including “Quickdraw challenge!”, a quote of the day, and “What I’m listening to” templates. 
  • Users have the option to post a story publicly or to Close Friends as usual, but can now post to a group, or create a group to share a story to.

Spotify now lets users add podcasts to playlists

  • Spotify announced the feature after numerous requests from users. 
  • Podcasts can be added to existing playlists to create mixed-media listening.

Snapchat premieres in-game purchases with Adidas

  • Snapchat users are able to shop Adidas’ new Baseball 8-BIT collection through an in-app game.
  • The baseball themed game coincides with the start of the Major League Baseball playoffs in America.

Instagram introduces new product launch stickers and reminders

  • Brands can create stickers that link back to a product, and show a countdown to the launch date of the product.
  • Consumers can click through on the sticker, which will show the product description and give them the option to set a reminder for the launch date.
